Having lived in this home for many years, the owners decided that a change would better suit their lifestyle, much of which involves entertaining guests and accommodating visiting grandchildren. The challenge with the renovation was to fuse classic bungalow character with contemporary style, and to shift the focus of the home to celebrate the tranquil gardens the owners have spent 25 years nurturing. Reconfiguring two bedrooms into an expansive open-plan kitchen, living and dining area that opens out onto the beautiful black kwila deck has created an entertainer’s dream. The kitchen is now the heart of the home and embraces the owners’ passion for cooking and entertaining. And through elegant bi-folds, they can now admire the retreat that is their garden. A personal haven was created by transforming the original formal lounge into a generous main suite, complete with a large ensuite and walk-in wardrobe – a must-have in any modern home. Although the home has a contemporary look, it still retains a nod to the past with restored character details.
