A mix of materials catch the eyes of Waikato House of the Year judges

Built on the slopes of Taumarunui, this home sits comfortably in its environment.

Timbers from the family farm helped a Taumarunui home take out Waikato's House of the Year competition on Friday night.

Sloan Annand Builder was awarded Waikato Registered Master Builders 2016 Supreme House of the Year for their Taumarunui home, as well as three other regional awards, including a Gold Award, Category win for the Carters New Home $1 million - $2 million Award, and the Craftsmanship Award.

John S Macdonald Builders Limited took out the title for Waikato Registered Master Builders 2016 Supreme Renovation of the Year, as well as regional awards for their Hamilton home, including a Gold Award and Category win for the Renovation Award over $500,000.

Waikato Registered Master Builders 2016 House of the Year.

Judges said the winning House of the Year was a classic and simplistic design, which incorporated fantastic craftsmanship.
