Taylor Developments Story 2020

This year we are celebrating 30 Years of House of the Year! Over the next few months we are going to be shining a light on some of the people who have played a massive part in the competition. Keep an eye out on our channels as our members share some of their best memories as a builder.

Taylor DEVELOPMENTS - 1994

"I’ve been a builder for 52 years. It’s damn hard work, but very rewarding.

My first year as a Master Builder I won first place in the top two categories and the top one went on to win the national title, now called the Supreme Award. The house was a big 900 square meter five-bedroom property with an attached granny flat, indoor 25-meter lap pool, spa, sauna, tennis court, and lift. Back in 1994, it was probably one of the biggest and most expensive homes being built in Hamilton. The sheer size of the build was probably the biggest challenge. But the satisfaction of finishing such a beautiful home and winning an award for it made it worth all the long hours and hard labour." - Colyn Taylor, Taylor Developments
