The Bathroom Report 2018

Monochrome set

Dark blue and black walls and cabinetry are at the zeitgeist of bathroom design right now. We’ve been obsessed with keeping interiors light and bright for so long that we’d all but forgotten just how comforting a dark interior can be. When juxtaposed with crisp white porcelain, such as these American Standard Acacia semi-inset basins, $299 each, from Robertson Bathware, dark bathrooms really shine.

Good design is a happy collision of form and function. This Trendy extendable shaving mirror, $205, from PlaceMakers, is exactly that. It’s dual-sided and, with five-times magnification, practicality rules. The distinctly Art Deco vibe is aesthetically pleasing indeed.

Jet-set

This Methven Kea Satinjet shower system, $899, from Plumbing World, ups the ante when it comes to showering.

Feet first

Step out of the shower in winter and into some cute slippers. Redcurrent’s adorable rabbit-style ones are just the ticket. $25 from Redcurrent.

Into the mix

Statement-making shower mixers are punctuating bathrooms beautifully. From left below: black Paini Dax-R shower mixer, $375, from Plumbing World; Vado Elements three-handle thermostatic valve, $1475 for chrome; and (top) Vado Zoo shower kit, $399 for chrome, both from Robertson Bathware.
