Like many of us, this recently reinvigorated Rotorua retreat would rather forget the 90s. And by the looks of it, it has. No expense has been spared in this makeover, which has transformed the Tarawera residence into the ultimate lake house – or should we say houses? Two spacious structures are delicately linked by the addition of a glass ‘bridge’, which frames lake and mountain views. It also allows a look-through view from the sheltered west deck. The wide-open interior exudes timeless style while being superbly functional for wheelchair users. The timber feature ceiling, floating high above warming wood floors in the open-plan area, is simply breathtaking. If you can tear your eyes off it long enough, you’ll notice the enviable lake views through large swathes of glass. It’s such a relaxing sight from the entertainer’s kitchen. With four bedrooms, four bathrooms and two living areas, there’s lots of space for guests. Huge decks set the scene for alfresco affairs night and day. The upstairs bedroom enjoys it own private balcony.
