Gaze into the treetops that overlook Wadestown and you’ll likely see this truly unique home nestled into the skyline. This architecturally-designed residence on one of Wellington’s more challenging sites does the home, the owners and the builders justice. Built to blend in with the natural environment, the exterior is embraced by lush native bush and birdsong. The 206sqm footprint was sensitively designed and constructed to have minimal impact on the surrounding bush. The construction of this beautiful home was as hard as it gets. Some of the challenges the builders faced when creating this hillside masterpiece were very limited access to a sloping site that is prone to gale force winds. The engineering requirements when building on an exposed hillside site need to be robust and they certainly were with this build. The home, although in some cases on 9m piles, has a solid feel even when facing the wildest storm that Wellington can throw at it. Extensive glazing lets in the sun and wonderful views. Easy flow through glass sliders encourages connection with the great outdoors.
