Regional Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence
Given to an outstanding bathroom that best caters to the owners’ needs.
In Christchurch’s historic heartland, this expansive modern masterpiece rests comfortably among 100-year-old trees and by the beautiful Wai-iti stream. Designed to impress on an epic scale, the 900sqm home includes four double bedrooms, five bathrooms, separate powder rooms and six-car garaging.
The centrepiece is the double-height entranceway, crowned by a dramatic Arabescato marble spiral staircase. The owners’ art collection is proudly displayed in the mezzanine gallery above.
Vast open-plan living areas unfold across the breadth of the home, arranged in zones to cater for family living and entertaining. Inside flows seamlessly to the superbly landscaped grounds and exterior living spaces.
The state-of-the-art kitchen is designed around a monumental cantilevered island, also of Arabescato marble. Cutting-edge technology and automation ensure the living is easy in this beautifully appointed home.
But it was the ensuite’s chic design, use of quality materials and thoughtful design that so impressed the judges, they bestowed the National Bathroom Award on it.
What’s more, the home also won the Sustainable award. “Large homes are not what come to mind when thinking of sustainability. The owners of this home knew that a substantial build would need considerable energy to run. This drove their decision to mitigate where possible the impact of the large carbon footprint this home would create,” explained the judges.
The owners’ brief for a state-of-the-art, contemporary family residence has been realised in a house that truly delivers on wow factor.
