Conceived as a sophisticated rural retreat, this sprawling residence has been configured as a cluster of linked pavilions surrounding a sheltered arrival courtyard. These are positioned so the owners can enjoy the outstanding views from multiple living and bedroom spaces, and to capture the sun as it moves throughout the day.

A modern-day mansion that cuts into the rise of a large hill, it has a commanding presence over the landscape. Materials include Italian terrazzo, stone, raw concrete, steel and glass, to ensure the home will be enjoyed by many generations.

The pavilions containing living spaces are constructed from extra-thick off-the-form concrete walls. Luxurious French oak floors and landscaped, glazed and basalt-floored links connect to other spaces – the office, media room, guest wing, garages and helicopter hangar. White concrete fins separate and define the living spaces, while expansive steelframed glazing allows vast amounts of light into the heart of the 2400sqm home. Two grand staircases lead to the more private areas.

Outdoor terraces extend into the park-like grounds, enabling access to spaces including the loggia and pool.
