With its luxurious feel and soothing sandy tones, this project on Mount Maunganui’s coastline saw a semidetached townhouse separated from the adjoining property and then rebuilt. Designed by architect Mark Carnachan and built by Calley Homes, the house is located in the coastal erosion zone. As a result, it has been constructed in such a way that it can be relocated if erosion occurs.
Built over three levels with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the stunning home features concrete tilt panels and cedar board-and-batten cladding.
The kitchen’s central island is made from Matarazzo leather-finished marble and the cabinetry is timber. This open-plan space is the hub of the entertaining area, and opens out onto two tranquil outdoor living spaces, one of which overlooks the beach and the other a private courtyard.
Upstairs, the grand main suite takes in breathtaking views of the ocean through the private lounge area’s floor-to-ceiling glazing.
Marble, stone and timber tie this home together and make it feel like an opulent five-star retreat.
