The owners of this new build on a family farm wanted it to capture the sun and feel like an established home. Corrugated iron and concrete-look plaster features on the home’s exterior do the trick. The colour scheme of black and grey continues inside, where a concrete feature wall and glazed cavity slider welcome you into the living space from the entrance. The kitchen island’s stone benchtop complements the grey cabinetry and flooring.

Shelving in the study nook and bathroom showcases recycled timber from the farm, responding to the owners’ design brief. From the lounge area, a covered patio with roof windows and bathroom is easily accessed through sliding doors. The deck then steps down to the paved area and lawn. The rest of the home comprises four spacious bedrooms, home office, two bathrooms, laundry and mudroom. Thermally broken, argon and Low-E windows have been used throughout, and the home sits on an engineer-designed Pod floor.
