When it came to constructing his own home, this builder chose high-quality products to minimise maintenance and protect from wear and tear – particularly in the bathrooms and kitchen. Trethewey Stone granite tops were used in the kitchen and the adjoining scullery, which has walls completely lined with timber-grain Melteca for style and durability. There’s a 900mm five-burner gas stove, an electric oven and an extra-large kitchen sink. The high-end bathroom and main-bedroom ensuite have tiled walls and flooring, plus underfloor heating.
This mid-century modern-inspired monopitch home, which has four bedrooms, has also been built for ease of living. A spacious covered outdoor area, spanning the entire front of the house, means the family can enjoy the outdoors without the harsh UV rays. Outside areas are accessed through bifold doors off the main lounge and French doors off the family room. Abodo decking was picked for its durability and minimal shrinkage. For winter warmth, there’s a dual system for winter heating – a gas fire and a floor-mounted heat pump.
