The homeowners’ vision was very specific. They wanted to build an aviation-inspired rural home, which allowed them to operate an aircraft from their doorstep. This stunning 300sqm architectural build sits on eight hectares of land adjacent to the Feilding Aerodrome. To integrate the aviation theme, the architect designed the home to incorporate a ‘control tower’, evident in the elevated elements. The plaster-clad residence is enhanced by stone pillars, which complete the overall look and feel. Light and bright with a Scandi touch was the vision for inside. The carefully considered interior palette complements the exterior scheme perfectly. An open-plan kitchen, dining, living and family room are all vantage points to enjoy the surrounding picturesque Manawatū views. A large, double-sided fireplace is central to the dining and living area and features the same stone as the exterior. The spacious main wing offers a luxe feel with the added warmth of soft oak finishes. With direct access to the aerodrome runway, this unique home is an aviation enthusiast’s dream come true.
