Building a home to capture panoramic views invariably comes with a few challenges, and this one, located at the top of a hill in Paraparaumu, was no exception. With its elevated position, the site is exposed, and had a significant amount of gorse to be cleared, as well as covenanted bush to consider. The build team worked closely with the homeowners to bring their grand dream to reality. The lower level has a double-height entry leading to an extensive living area and kitchen. With a 2.7m stud height, these areas take in 180-degree views encompassing Kāpiti Island, Mount Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu in the north, and Rangitoto ki te Tonga/D’Urville island in the south. The separate family room is positioned to be sheltered from the prevailing wind. Triple garaging and a home office complete the ground floor. Four spacious bedrooms on the upper level also enjoy the magnificent views and are serviced by two well-appointed bathrooms. The exterior comprises three cladding types in a neutral palette to help the home blend into what is a commanding location.
