With elevated properties on two of the three sides, the challenge was to design a house that would make best use of a private area at the rear of the section. Living areas needed to be tucked away from the road and flow to outdoor areas. The house also needed to include three bedrooms, display pared-back lines and create street appeal. It’s clear the objectives have been met, and then some. Edwards White Architects took the client’s requests on board and designed a beautiful home with timeless appeal. The 211sqm residence is clad in bagged brick, has timber shiplap features, and delivers delightful details within – all of which are gradually revealed as you progress throughout the home. A feature that has become increasingly important in recent times is an office to accommodate working from home. This one has been designed to be closed off, ensuring it almost disappears, which helps with the all-important work-life separation and balance. Air flow, natural light and efficient heating are achieved with automated solar-powered skylights and a ducted fireplace. Meanwhile, low-e glass mitigates heat loss and sun damage.
