The homeowners knew exactly what they wanted out of this new build. In fact, the design was based around their own sketches. They were after a warm and elegant, four-bedroom, three-bathroom family home that wrapped around a sheltered courtyard, where a spectacular pool is the star of the show. In one wing of the house is an insulated garage, office and main suite. In the opposite wing is a large bedroom and bathroom, as well as an extensive living area. This includes a large family kitchen with walk-in pantry, a useful laundry, dining and a sunken living room that leads out to decking and a covered alfresco area with outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Connecting the two wings is a second lounge and the children’s suite with two bedrooms, bathroom and plenty of storage, everything a family could need. Inside, the fresh grey, tan and white palette is cosy yet modern, and is warmed up by the use of timber and schist. The schist continues outside, too, teamed with painted brick and Abodo cladding. Landscaping is low-maintenance and modern with a welcoming Japanese-style garden by the entrance and, out the back, plenty of green space ideal for backyard cricket.
