Designed to fit nicely to a re-claimed platform, this ultra-modern home has also been positioned to maximise extensive Ruby Bay views. The living area provides a long central spine with bedroom wings spanning out on either side taking the form of a plane or bird. The hand of the artist owner is evident throughout with blue and yellow panels adding colour to the otherwise black, white and timber exterior also visible from inside. The hallway which runs through the bedroom wing, with a window at floor level, becomes a gallery and art is hung on every wall that doesn’t have a large picture window.

Graphic wallpaper works to lift a couple of corners, a brick fireplace features at the end of the living room and timber cabinetry adds to what is mostly a neutral palette with exposed aggregate concrete floors. Everything is thermally efficient with solar panels and battery storage making the home power neutral. Spaces have been designed to specific requirements with AM and PM alfresco decks, an office, a snug adjacent to the main suite (which leads out to the pool and spa) and an artist’s studio. A large, angled island defines the kitchen. Floor-to-ceiling cupboards line the laundry and bathrooms have generous proportions.
