Here, the numbers add up to something special. It starts with site. This 462sqm luxury home has a front-row seat to the 10th hole of the Coronet 18 golf course, which sits beneath both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables in Mill Farm, Millbrook. Let’s move on to the home itself, which consists of five pavilions, four of which are linked. One is separate and self contained. Together, this cluster of beautiful forms accommodates four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living areas and a sauna.
The A J Saville project required ingenuity to capture both views and all-day sun in the shadow of the mountains. It also had to adhere to the Millbrook Resort guidelines dictating the likes of cladding, roof pitch and overall design. The main construction is concrete tilt panel with the stand-alone pod and garage constructed of timber and clad in vertical cedar. The latter has two bedrooms and a bathroom above, and a gym in the garage space. The window joinery is steel and aluminium with minimal junctions. The interior has a subtle industrial vibe – steel beams extend to the fascia. The kitchen-living pod is angled to capture views and sun, and leads to an entertaining area with a pool and decking. Parquet flooring is a feature in itself. Solar panels on the roof heat the pool and a 150mm frame was used to allow builders to boost insulation where needed. There are so many pluses in this stunning house.
