Special doesn’t come close to describing this project. Yes, it’s a pool house, but it does much more than housing the 18m-long in-ground heated swimming pool. The 163sqm building, clad in lightweight concrete panels and horizontal cedar, is like a private health club on the same property as the owners’ house. Designed to match the home’s exterior, the pool house also has a lounge that opens onto a sheltered, private, landscaped terrace. In the relaxing space next to the pool, you’ll find a TV, sound bar and speaker that can be operated by smartphone. If views of the cool blue pool are not enough, feature lighting in neon shades can change the ambience instantly. The building also has a changing room, tiled shower, toilet and plant room.

Temperature and ventilation are crucial in pool environments, and the entire sanctuary is automatically controlled through underfloor water-pipe heating and ducted air conditioning. Wool insulation in the walls and ceilings is above code. It’s warm and comfortable in here, but without condensation. These thermal upgrades also help to maintain the pool temperature. Security cameras and electric windows complete the dream pool-house package. When the owners have ploughed up and down the pool, they can shower, dress and relax or dine in the lap of luxury – without leaving their property.
