Rather than dramatically altering the footprint of this 92sqm home, this renovation focused on improving the way the house functions for modern family living. The result is a carefully considered transformation that balances warmth, practicality and contemporary detailing, while respecting the character already present within the original home. An underused patio area was enclosed and fully insulated to create a new bedroom, adding valuable flexibility, without compromising the home’s connection to the outdoors. Internal walls were also reworked to establish a more open and connected flow between living spaces, helping the compact footprint feel significantly more generous.
The kitchen now forms the functional centre of the home. A large island with fluted detailing anchors the space, paired with timber cabinetry, stone-look surfaces and pendant lighting. Long banks of windows draw in natural light, while large openings create an easy relationship between the dining area and deck beyond. Restored timber flooring adds continuity throughout the shared living spaces. Original timber doors and coffered ceilings preserve a sense of character, while the new bathroom introduces a contemporary feel through large-format tiling, layered lighting and brushed brass fittings. The new layout also includes a relocated laundry and improved storage. The outcome is a home that is larger, lighter and truly supports everyday family life.
