This contemporary family home has been shaped by a trapezoidal site and strong urban engagement. The house responds to its geometry: a narrow street frontage that opens dramatically towards the north-west, welcoming light and framing the landscape. Arrival is defined by the monolithic all-brick façade, presenting a restrained public face punctured only by a cedar entry and garage door. Internally, a dark-toned entry foyer inherits the external material palette, giving way to a light-filled living environment beyond. An open, flexible space forms the social heart of the home and connects to the north-west oriented outdoor living areas. A staircase works as a divide on the ground floor, providing privacy for a den and guest bedroom and ensuite.

Upstairs two bedrooms are positioned either side of the stair, screened behind a latticework of brick. A family bathroom separates these from the expansive main suite. For both upstairs bathrooms, stone baths were craned in before the roof framing was installed. Natural light is drawn deep into the plan through large, operable skylights, eliminating the need for openings on the south-facing elevation for improved thermal performance. The two-storey brick volume is subtly curved to soften hard edges, while offsets between upper and lower forms break down the overall mass, introducing a horizontal rhythm that resonates with neighbouring dwellings.
