To describe this project as a renovation and extension is understating what has been crafted here. This is an epic transformation both in terms of scale and beauty. The owners wanted their four-bedroom, 290sqm home on a lifestyle block expanded to accommodate family and guests and for entertaining.

The builders delivered, and then some. The 404sqm addition more than doubled the property’s footprint; the house now has seven bedrooms, three with ensuites, a study and lots of open living space.

Venture inside through the wide cedar entry door and it’s hard to look past the sprawling open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with raked ceiling and statement lighting. The kitchen, with character features, hasa walk-through scullery — ideal for entertaining— and a breakfast bar that seats eight.

From here you ease naturally into the family room and lounge, which are separated by a striking double-sided stone fireplace. Next it’s just a few steps out to a portico that looks as if it could belong in a luxury lodge. Handcrafted Oregon timber trusses, a raked ceiling, a stone fireplace, a lawn like a green blanket and a bluestone retaining wall assert class. Wherever you look, you’ll find elements that elevate: tiled bathrooms, a study with a big bench-style desk and a main bedroom suite with its own dressing room and ensuite. This is spacious, family lifestyle living.
