Perched upon an elevated site facing the sprawling coastline, the Ocean View retreat certainly lives up to its name. The 319sqm architectural holiday home demonstrates how considered design, clean lines and a strong connection to the outdoors can come together in one remarkable package. Clad in vertical shiplap, the exterior stretches unobtrusively along the ridgeline. The open-plan pavilion style of the main entertainment wing showcases how seamlessly zones can connect. This flow is emphasised with floor-to-ceiling glazing and raked cedar ceilings that span out to the soffits. The living area, dining and kitchen create the hub of this pavilion, which connects to the outdoor entertaining spaces, complete with louvre roof, fireplace and swimming pool.
Inside, the aesthetic is natural, sophisticated and lets the craftsmanship do much of the talking. This is evident as soon as you walk in and are met with refined textures in wood and concrete. There’s an in-situ concrete wall to one side and a vertical timber-slat statement wall ahead, which cleverly hides an entrance to the powder room. It’s one of many bespoke elements of the build. The second wing houses five bedrooms, two with ensuite, the main bathroom, media room and a two-car garage. The bedrooms all boast decks on which to sit and take in the views. Craftsmanship and discipline have created an exceptional level of understated opulence.
