Here’s how to pack a delightful punch. Despite its 153sqm footprint, this home, undeniably, commands a powerful presence in its Invercargill neighbourhood. It’s crisp white, sleek and modern with architectural flourishes such as wedge-shaped clerestory windows. Every detail has been thought through: orientation for sun, future proofing, privacy and use of low-maintenance materials. The project began with “astonishingly well prepared” clients who had a detailed hand‑drawn plan that became the foundation. From there the design was adapted to the section, cladding added and the plan honed.
For the builders, satisfaction was derived from working through design challenges with the clients and finding solutions that honoured their dream. Watching the kitchen come together, for example, was especially rewarding. Coordinating joiners across two cities could have been complex, yet every piece arrived exactly as intended. The bright kitchen is an instant focal point for good reason. It has an island with vertical timber detailing, a bank of contrasting darkhued cupboards, a window behind the stovetop and a handy walk-in pantry. From here, a light-infused open-plan living space transitions to the outdoors through sliders. Two sunny bedrooms (one with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe), a second bathroom and garage with laundry complete the home, which is a source of pride for the builder.
